Set a realistic pace
Compare the miles needed each day with your average speed and comfortable driving hours. If the request is too aggressive, the planner adds the travel days you need.
Keep stops in order
Add up to eight stops, reorder them, and include break durations. Each stop lands on the travel day containing its cumulative mile marker.
Coordinate the everyday rides
After the long trip, RideVillage helps families share recurring school and activity carpools, driver rotations, riders, swaps, and reminders.

What is a road trip planner?
A road trip planner turns your total distance, travel days, driving pace, and planned stops into a day-by-day route itinerary with estimated arrival times.
How many miles should I drive each day on a road trip?
Divide the total distance by your available travel days, then check that the result fits your comfortable driving hours and average speed. This planner does both calculations.
Does this free road trip planner use live maps?
No. It uses the distances and average speed you enter, so your trip details stay in your browser. Confirm live routes, closures, traffic, and fuel stops in a navigation app before departure.
Can I add overnight stops and breaks?
Yes. Add ordered stops with miles from the previous point and a stop duration. The planner places each stop on the correct travel day and adds overnight breaks automatically.
Can I print or share the itinerary?
Yes. You can copy the full itinerary, download it as a text file, or print a clean version for drivers and passengers.
